Inside the White House Kitchen and Beer Room

A behind-the-scenes look at homebrewing in the White House. This story popped up August 21 on The Atlantic Wire: Beer Geeks Determined to Unlock Obama’s Home-Brew Recipe. At that point it didn’t seem like the petition to release the recipes under the Freedom of Information Act was going to get it done, but the White House has released the official home brew recipes for its Honey Brown Ale and Honey Porter (both made with honey from beehives on the South Lawn).

The White House kitchen released recipes for its Honey Brown Ale and Honey Porter on Saturday. Image credit and recipes from whitehouse.gov.

White House Assistant Chef Sam Kass and White House Sous Chef Tafari Campbell explain a bit of history and more on brewing in the White House.

Happy brewing, and enjoy the weekend!
